Trauma Focused Intervention is a specific approach which breaks down the impact of a traumatic experience on psychological, emotional, physical and spiritual well-being.
The purpose of this therapy is to offer skills and strategies to improve understanding and normalise behaviours/symptoms, develop coping skills and stress management techniques before processing the emotions and memories attached to the past traumatic experience.
Some of the benefits of this treatment includes: Re-establish sense of safety, Identify trauma triggers, develop healthy coping skills, decrease stress symptoms and regain control and power of your own life.
Treatment usually runs between 12 to 16 weekly sessions, but could be more depending on the circumstances. It may not be necessary to talk about the past as creative techniques can be used non-verbally to assist with healing safely and gently.
